And that the tenants say they get no benefit, except the coffee place.We shop there and my wife spends a lot of money there. The event lets a lot of people get familar with the location. They don't know when they have a good-no-great thing. Most businesses would die for promotions that draw that many high income qualified customers. Couldn't you figure a way to capitalize. There has not been one store flyer handed out in dozens of shows I have been to. And the only represenitives are the guards who have been great.

Comment by Greg Foster on December 5, 2010 at 10:23am: It is ridiculous that they have decided to eliminate the venue @ the Avenues. For them to say they reaped NO BENEFIT is absurd ! Just sounds like they fumbled the ball by not being proactive and making their presence known by drawing in potential customers. Though i understand a new, vacant venue for the events have been found.

Anyone who knows the new physical address for upcoming events, please create new postings for these events to keep everyone informed of where it is being held. I am sure there will be many who continue to show up there for months to come. Let's do our best to keep all of the great folks who enjoy these meets informed !

Comment by Michelle on November 28, 2010 at 2:53am: C&O is currently looking for another venue to house the event, since a new restaurant is coming into the Avenues and will need the space for its employees on Sunday. Most of the stores there don't open until the event is over, so I don't know why they would complain. Another food venue would do well with the crowd.

Comment by Michael Thies on November 22, 2010 at 3:23am: This event has been one of the more remarkable wheels events of the South East for the last few years. I cannot believe the Avenues is so short sited as to "pull the plug". From many folks' point of view, it put the Avenue'a name on the map in the first place. Overall is it is a smallish, hap haphazard little mall trying to be upscale without the credentials. They have similar ones in Cumming and Snelllville and have very little to say for themselves. They shouldn't be pulling out, but expanding the idea. Jim, you are correct in saying that they should celebrate the access to "income qualified" customers. It is just poorly considered business.

The organizers did not reach out to the other stores for participation a s far as I know. This started 5 years ago as a way to drive business to Panera Bread it started out on Saturday and then when it got to busy they moved it to Sunday. I have tried on several occasions to get Cousins to talk to me with no, I repeat no response. A friend with an inside line to Cousins told me that at their meeting last month, they want no part of gatherings like this at any of their properties. Only the merchants might be able to change that and I doubt that they are that aware or care. We need to find a place close by that can appreciate the economic impact that a group like us can have on a few hours on Sunday Morning.
