NOPI's Mark Meyers Passed Away This Week. :-(

I visited with my old friend's family last night. I have lost a good friend with Mark's passing. So has the Hobby.  Here is a great eulogy written by our mutual friend Rickey Dailey.

"If you once was that kid or that young adult that got excited to pack your bags for one of the best touring car shows in the USA... You attended the Nopi Nationals Motorsports #CarShow and that event was Co-Founded by Mark Meyers. Two days ago we lost this legend, mastermind, host, and my mentor.

Mark Meyers was the man with the master plan that created a car show that traveled the U.S. involved all cars, bikes, ATVs, and wild cars from every make and model and invited all auto enthusiast to participate in the action! I still remember my first #NopiNationals event ... Do you? The bikini contest and the jello wrestling and big name vendors with the sweet rides that all helped the show evolve into what I call the best car-show ever created ! "

The loss of my mentor was a shock and is still hard to digest because he was such a kind man that would help you in any way he could when it came to the car scene or even as an employee. Mark was so dedicated to making the #Nopi Nationals a huge successful event after the recession. His goal was to carry on the legend event and spread it from the East Coast and reach out to the West Coast once again like the good old days! I remember having conversations with him about what it takes to put on an event this size and it took A LOT of dedication, A LOT of personal time, and a STRONG heart that always looked forward and never backwards no mater how low the numbers of the past event ended. Mark always had a smile on his face and was always thinking of ways to improve and gain feedback from his employees and customers in order to create an AWESOME car-show series.

After working with Mark for the past 4 years I was finally awarded a nick-name that fit me well Rickey Bobby AKA Rickey Smooth. Its a nick name I will carry on because this man inspired me to continue to create and respect the car scene and to never give up no matter how much respect from the scene or the people of the scene gave you! He Kept fighting towards his dreams and provided something for the car enthusiast alike! Mark also had the knowledge about cars that a lot others probably didn't know that he had. He was an encyclopedia for car parts, chassis numbers that belong to all vehicles ,and he owned quite a few vehicles. He owned a Lotus Elise, a Datsun 280z and the Chrysler 300 SRT8 that lost the front bumper at the Orlando show after making an attempt to go off-roading at the race track... The good times! And those are only just a few of the cars that he owned.

For the time that I had know Mark Meyers, I had learned an abundant amount of information to carry on as I continue to carry on the Nopi name, never lost nor forgotten. Mark gave it his all, recognized my potential and rewarded me with acknowledgement, knowledge and great a conversation that inspired us all !  R.I.P Mark Meyers and thank you for the opportunity to participate  in a legendary show. Please continue to have him and his family and friends in your prayers!

Nopi (Number One Parts Inc) Nationals show will be hosting a show  July 24-26 2015 In Myrtle Beach at the Myrtle Beach Speedway. Please come out if you are close and join the event as we celebrate a great man and his vision!
