I owned a Honda 450 motorcycle around that time. Do you know if the 2 cylinder 600 used in the AZ600 was a derivative engine? Mine made 45 horsepower (advertized). Of course the bike had a five speed without a reverse.
Neat looking car! Good luck in the contest!
“Lemon Martini, and stir the snot out of it!
Sophisticated, debonair, resourceful…NOT! Had the CIA needed a spy and a spy car in 1972, they obviously overlooked these jewels. 40 years later, they are just as spry and ready to go. 50F below on Mt. McKinley or 150F above in Death Valley, the little air cooled, 2 cyl engine is light and nimble and very economical to operate. Our owner is just as quick on the draw and he is on the drink. He carries a 22 cal to match the power of the 31 HP powerplant matched to the 4 speed, fully synchronized transmission. “ Zero to 60 in good time, my dear man”. It flies past the gas stations, well, it gets past them, anyway. What this car lacks in raw power, creature comforts and mass appeal, it makes up for in economy and uniqueness. Honda sold 20,000 units from 1971-through 1972 before they retired the marque. Honda wishes everyone would forget this gem. Having made the leap from motorcycle to real cars in the American automotive market place, it leap frogged under the radar of the Big Three who never saw the Japanese invasion just over the horizon.
This little “clown car” has 38,000+ original miles and runs like the wind as long it is from the rear. Front wheel drive, front Disc brakes, seat belt indicator light, duel light overhead console. Seating for 4 and room for 2 bags of groceries behind the rear seat.
