Last year we were able to raise and contribute $2500 to some very good causes and have a lot of fun in the process. This year we are hoping for a repeat performance with our "CRUISE IN FOR A CAUSE' support for the following causes:

1. Pennies for Vicki---Pennies for Vicki supports people with cancer both nationally and locally and has made donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Y-Me of Chattanooga, and the Helene DiStefano Fund. As outlined by their spokesperson,“There are a lot of things insurance doesn’t cover, women still have to work to support their families, so we are able to step in and help in these situations."

2. Ronald McDonald House--For nearly 35 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) has been creating, finding and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well being of nearly 4 million children worldwide every year.

3. Chattanooga Chapter of American Red Cross-----A humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, and guided by its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

4. Fire & Police Forgotten Child’s Fund--Annual Christmas event where firemen and policemen buy and distribute gifts to the "Forgotten" children of Chattanooga that would otherwise not receive any gifts.

5. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of East Tennessee granted its first wish in 1988 and has granted over 700 wishes through the services of more than 120 volunteers. Any child 2½ and under the age of 18, who has been determined by a physician to have a life-threatening illness and has not been granted a previous wish, may be eligible. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to all eligible children, regardless of race, religion, or socio-economic status. Granting a child’s one greatest wish inspires him or her to continue living with exuberance. We feel that the doctors provide the medicine, and we provide the magic!

We hope to see you on August 21, 2010 for what we hope is the best cruise in of the year for the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. Thanks for your help and participation.

The RestoMod

There’s a sweet spot between keeping a car original and making it your own, and that’s where the restomod lives. It’s the perfect handshake between yesterday’s design and today’s technology. You keep the classic lines, the chrome, and that unmistakable old-school personality, but you update what counts. Underneath…

A Bite of History – The Rat Rod by Mike Thies

A Bite of History – by Mike Thies

If the hot rod was about shine and polish, the rat rod was about grit and guts. These weren’t built for trophies or perfection, they were built to run, to rattle, and to raise a little dust. The idea came from guys who were tired of trailer queens and six-figure show cars. They dug through junkyards, swapped parts in driveways, and welded with whatever they had. A true rat rod looked like it might’ve been found behind an old barn,…
