Last year we were able to raise and contribute $2500 to some very good causes and have a lot of fun in the process. This year we are hoping for a repeat performance with our "CRUISE IN FOR A CAUSE' support for the following causes:

1. Pennies for Vicki---Pennies for Vicki supports people with cancer both nationally and locally and has made donations to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Y-Me of Chattanooga, and the Helene DiStefano Fund. As outlined by their spokesperson,“There are a lot of things insurance doesn’t cover, women still have to work to support their families, so we are able to step in and help in these situations."

2. Ronald McDonald House--For nearly 35 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) has been creating, finding and supporting programs that directly improve the health and well being of nearly 4 million children worldwide every year.

3. Chattanooga Chapter of American Red Cross-----A humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, and guided by its Congressional Charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross movement will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

4. Fire & Police Forgotten Child’s Fund--Annual Christmas event where firemen and policemen buy and distribute gifts to the "Forgotten" children of Chattanooga that would otherwise not receive any gifts.

5. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of East Tennessee granted its first wish in 1988 and has granted over 700 wishes through the services of more than 120 volunteers. Any child 2½ and under the age of 18, who has been determined by a physician to have a life-threatening illness and has not been granted a previous wish, may be eligible. The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to all eligible children, regardless of race, religion, or socio-economic status. Granting a child’s one greatest wish inspires him or her to continue living with exuberance. We feel that the doctors provide the medicine, and we provide the magic!

We hope to see you on August 21, 2010 for what we hope is the best cruise in of the year for the Chattanooga and surrounding areas. Thanks for your help and participation.

The Person Who Keeps the Field Working

A Concours d’Elegance may look simple from the outside: beautiful cars, polished chrome, fresh grass, well-dressed owners, judges with clipboards, and spectators enjoying the day. But anyone who has worked behind the scenes knows better. A…

A Bite of History - Marcos

By Mike Thies

The Marcos was one of those wonderfully unconventional British sports car companies that could only have come from the postwar racing world. The company was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and aerodynamicist Frank Costin, with the name Marcos coming from Marsh and Costin. Costin brought serious aircraft and racing design experience to the project, and that influence showed up immediately in the cars: low frontal area, light weight,…
