Mooresville, N.C. (Wednesday, June 15, 2011) – Earlier this year Dale Earnhardt Jr. traveled to General Motors' assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, not only to take ownership of a brand new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible but also drive it off the line in grand debut of its heavily anticipated arrival. Amid cheering workers and flashing cameras, Earnhardt Jr. climbed behind the wheel of his victory-red Camaro with black rally stripes – only the third one ever made – and helped introduce it to a world ready to embrace the new style Camaro.
Now as part of a fundraising drive for The Dale Jr. Foundation, Earnhardt Jr. is giving away his 2011 Chevrolet Convertible with the purchase of a $25 raffle ticket at www.WinDaleJrsRide.com.
The Camaro is not the only prize up for grabs with the purchase of a raffle ticket. Earnhardt Jr. is offering a second prize that includes roundtrip airfare for two and admission for two to The Dale Jr. Foundation's "Driven to Give" event hosted by Jeff Foxworthy on Oct. 17 in Charlotte, N.C. The third prize is a VIP race weekend package to the Dollar General 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 14. That package includes pit and garage access, grandstand tickets, roundtrip airfare for two and $200 spending money in the JR Nation store.
"This Camaro Convertible received a lot of attention and rightly so. It's a beautiful car," said Earnhardt Jr. "We have kicked up our fundraising efforts for The Dale Jr. Foundation. We thought this would be a good idea, but we knew if we were going to give away one of my cars, it needed to be one of the best. I'm a Camaro guy, and this is the newest one of the bunch. It'll look good in someone's garage."
Earnhardt Jr.'s Camaro Convertible was the third one produced at the Oshawa Assembly Plant, which builds and manufactures all Camaros. It is equipped with a 6.2L V8, 426-horsepower engine, black leather appointed interior, 20-inch aluminum wheels with midnight silver finish, and a Rally Sport Exterior Appearance package.
"We wanted to give a few lucky fans an amazing opportunity," said Kelley Earnhardt, vice president of The Dale Jr. Foundation. "I think we've been able to do that, especially with Dale Jr.'s Camaro up for grabs. Fans will get to help out with a great cause, and I'm certain our raffle winners will get an experience they won't soon forget."
All proceeds from the raffle will benefit The Dale Jr. Foundation, whose mission is to give underprivileged individuals – with a focus on youth – the resources to improve their confidence and education.
TDJF recently announced a partnership with VH1 Save The Music Foundation to provide a $30,000 grant to a Durham, N.C. middle school to enhance the music program and give its students the opportunity to excel musically. Last month the foundation donated $28,000 to Blessings In A Backpack, which provides meals for underprivileged school kids on weekends.

A Bite of History - Marcos
By Mike Thies
The Marcos was one of those wonderfully unconventional British sports car companies that could only have come from the postwar racing world. The company was founded in 1959 by Jem Marsh and aerodynamicist Frank Costin, with the name Marcos coming from Marsh and Costin. Costin brought serious aircraft and racing design experience to the project, and that influence showed up immediately in the cars: low frontal area, light weight,…

A Judge’s View from Pinehurst: Sandhills Motoring Expo 2026 by Mike Thies
The 2026 Sandhills Motoring Expo Concours in the Village was one of those days that reminds you why we do this. Held Sunday, May 24, in the historic Village of Pinehurst, the event brought together more than 130 judged automobiles representing over 40 manufacturers, and from this judge’s point of view, it was a first-class field, a well-run operation, and a genuinely enjoyable day with owners who were proud to…
