Summer gasoline mix change?
My neighbor ('53 MG) said that with the summertime fuel mix change, I should put lead additive in my gas tank, any reason why? TIA - Pat

Old engines, like a 53 MG, were designed to run on leaded gas. If I remember right it had to do with the valves and or valve seats and without the lead in the fuel it wasnt' good for the valves/seats. When the engine is rebuilt there was an optional upgrade for the valves to a stelite coated valve that negates the need for the lead in the fuel. I don't know why you would only use it during the summer though.
